Intellectual Property Office of NZ
IPONZ provides a range of web services that allow you to interact with the intellectual property registers it maintains. These services allow you to submit new trade mark, patent, and design applications; renew registered IP rights; and retrieve publicly available information from the registers, all directly from your own IT systems.
Where applicable each service uses an XML schema modelled on World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) standards with customisations made as necessary for application to New Zealand legislation and practice. Application and renewal services are SOAP based and information retrieval services are RESTful.
To develop software that utilises IPONZ web services you should consult the documentation for the relevant web service and then request a test BusinessData account. IPONZ will contact you with testing details and will provide support during development.
To become a user of services in the IPONZ live production environment you need to first request a test account to demonstrate that you can successfully submit transactions. You may then create a production account. Once you have completed an access agreement and direct debit authority you can request and will be granted production access to the services you have successfully used in the test environment.
Invoices for transactions are issued on a monthly basis and the total amount will be direct debited from your authorised bank account on the 20th of each month.
