Searching
Before you send us your question
We have a range of resources on this website that might help answer your question. Here are links to just some of the information we have that relates to this topic:
When you use the entities option under search the register you can find details of companies - both New Zealand companies and companies on the overseas register.
An other registers search locates other registered entities using either the name or number. This search will locate the organisations that are currently registered as well as those that have been removed from the register.
Using the Director Search tool you can determine whether an individual is, or has been, a director of a company. You can also see whether a person is a disqualified director. By simply changing some settings you can also search for shareholders.
This search will confirm whether or not a person has been banned, details of the Act under which the director was banned, the duration of the prohibition, and lists the companies they were associated with. Searches of this database are FREE.
Many documents filed with the Companies Office can be conveniently viewed online as PDF files (for example, the incorporation documents, constitution, director consents). When you search the register for a company you can also see, and download, a copy of the certificate of incorporation.
With Companies Office Mobile you can search the companies register from your internet enabled mobile phone or personal digital assistant (PDA). Current services include company search, director search and banned director search.
Most searches are FREE and you don't need to log on (or even be a registered user) to search the register.
When you search the register for a company you can get a copy of the certificate of incorporation. Here you can learn how.
If you couldn't find the answer to your question here, please send your question to the Companies Office team.
We aim to respond within four working hours (8:30am - 5pm - Monday to Friday).
