Corrections to the register
If incorrect details are displayed for your company on the New Zealand register of companies or the overseas register due to an error arising from filing, you may be able to apply for correction.
How do you apply for a correction of the register?
To request a correction of the register online:
- You will need to be logged on as a registered user of the website. Read more...
- And have Company Authority for the company. Read more...
Then:
Step 1 | Search the register for the company for which a correction needs to be made. Read more about searching...
Step 2 | From the 'Companies Details' page select My Tools then choose Lodge Other Documents.
Step 3 | Select Correspondence.
Step 4 | In the Comments field state how the error occurred and the nature of the correction required .
Step 5 | If a document has to be replaced select the Browse… button and attach a copy.
Step 6 | Select the Submit button to send us your request for a correction to the register.
What happens next?
The Registrar’s intention to correct the register will be publicly notified on the Companies Office website and in the New Zealand Gazette. A 20-working day objection period applies, and if there is no objection, the correction will be made.
You will receive an acknowledgement via email when your request has been reviewed. This email will confirm the date of the public notice and the last day for objections.
What if someone objects?
If a written objection is received within the 20-working day period, the Registrar will not be able to proceed with the correction.
The Registrar will notify the applicant enclosing a copy of the objection. The applicant can then consider applying to the High Court for an order under section 360B of the Companies Act 1993. If that is granted, the Registrar will require a sealed copy and will correct the register at that time.
