New Zealand Trade and Enterprise ( NZTE) works to increase the number and size of New Zealand businesses operating successfully in international markets, and to build a pipeline of businesses that are willing and able to grow successfully.
The NZTE website has a number of online resources available to all Kiwi business including:
- the Export Guide - with information ranging from planning and market research to selling overseas, cultural and language differences and freight and logistics.
- Export market guides and market intelligence - detailed information about doing business in key markets around the world, including country information and market research for specific industries.
- Investment Ready Guide – with information to help you decide if your business is ready for, or indeed requires, investment funding.
- E-business Guide – a guide to help you develop your online presence and direct access to international markets.
- Features and commentary – articles exploring global business trends and Kiwi export success stories, and insights from leading business commentators.
You can also register for NZTE’s Export News, a free e-newsletter, which will keep you up-to-date on industry and export market news and trends.
NZTE’s services are targeted to different stages of a business lifecycle – from starting and growing a business, through to exporting and operating internationally.
Some services are provided directly by NZTE staff in New Zealand and overseas. Others are provided through external organisations – such as regional business development organisations and expert advisors - funded by NZTE.

A specialist information and referral service funded by NZTE to help people start and develop businesses, providing information, contacts, training and advice. The Biz free phone service can be accessed by calling 0800 42 49 46. - Business mentors
NZTE funds Business Mentors New Zealand to help it provide experienced mentors with proven business skills to SMEs. - Escalator service
Specialist skills and assistance to help businesses of any size to raise equity funding or complete a strategic relationship that may help them expand, diversify or commercialise a product or service. Funded by NZTE and delivered by the Economic Development Association of New Zealand (EDANZ) and Deloitte. - Business incubators
Support for start-up businesses with high growth potential to help them become established and sustainable. NZTE supports business incubator facilities in Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. - Industry Capability Network
Helping businesses get involved in major public and private projects being undertaken by prime contractors and multinationals in New Zealand and Australia. - ProjectLink
