Redundancy support for your employees

Work and Income can provide support services when businesses experience change, such as downsizing, closing or relocating of their operations. It’s better to contact them earlier so they can help those affected before the change.

For information about the support they offer employees who have been made redundant, or people who were self employed but qualify for Unemployment Benefit now, please visit Redundancy Support on the Work and Income website.

Help for your business

Work and Income can work with you before and after the change to help your employees find suitable jobs while allowing your business to continue its day-to-day operations up to the date of change.

Work and Income services might include:

  • meeting with you to talk about your situation and needs
  • co-ordinating services to help you and your affected employees
  • help providing training and other assistance to support your employees find other jobs.

Information is confidential and you, as the employer, make the decisions about the response and support Work and Income provide.

Although they can provide support services when your business change occurs it's better to contact them earlier so they can help those affected before the change.
