Business.govt.nz relaunch

— filed under:

The relaunch of Business.govt.nz provides a new look and feel and easier navigation to find all the business topics that are most important to you, as a business owner or manager. The Small Business Company is now working alongside the Ministry of Economic Development as the Content Partner, to create and manage useful relevant content over the next few years.

Some of the key changes are:

  • Business curriculum
Starting up, managing, growing  and exiting topics have been created that cover the main issues and concerns of small businesses, addressing key pain points they face. Over time more and more topics will be added to create an overall business ‘curriculum’ of what you need to know, rather than everything that is available on a particular topic.
  • Online tools
We have profiled the very best online tools such as the Business Health Check, the Business Assessment Tool, templates and online training all designed to help you help your business. These educational tools are available 24/7, confidential and best of all, free.
  • What you must do
Key compliance content that you need to be aware of. Being in business means you have to follow certain rules to comply with tax, ACC, and employment criteria. Sleep easier at night knowing that you have met all your obligations.
  • Do it online
There are loads of things you can now do online, from filing tax payments to setting up your company and searching intellectual property rights. We have placed the most common and useful government online transactional tools in one place.
  • Do it now
Where appropriate if there is an action you can take to implement any of the ideas or content inside the portal, we will provide a ‘do it now’ link. This will allow you to implement or execute best practice tools to help improve your business, or action an online tool.

Coming up

We have only just started. In the future we will continue to add new content, retire old content, offer an e-newsletter, run an events calendar, introduce new interactive tools such as video, podcasts, case studies, interviews, webinars, diagnostics, quizzes and business games.

Help us

We are always open to new ideas, content and feedback. You can submit content we can include, and even take our content and use it on your site. This is your portal, so please send any feedback to info@business.govt.nz.
