Vehicles

The All-of-Government contract for Passenger Vehicles is managed by the Centre of Expertise (CoE) at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), Economic Development Group.

There are 14 categories of vehicles covered by this contract:

Passenger Classes
Sub-class Predominant Use Preferred body types Indicative cc rating (note: may be lower or higher than indicative range but must still fulfil the remaining criteria for the class). Number of adult passengers (in addition to driver)
Sub-compact Short trips -Urban Environment Hatch and sedan Up to 1.5 litre  3
Compact Short trips -Urban Environment and open road  Hatch, sedan and wagon  1.4 to 1.9 litre  3
Medium Mixed use - short trips in urban environments and open road driving  Sedan, hatch and wagon  1.8 to 2.4 litre  4
Large Mixed use - short trips in urban environments and open road driving  Sedan and wagon  2.4 litre or above  4
AWD/SUV - Medium Mixed use - open road and light off-road driving  Hatch/wagon  Up to 1.8 litre  4
AWD/SUB - Large Mixed use - open road and light off-road driving  Wagon  2 litre or above 4
 
Light Commercial Classes

4WD Utility Mixed use - sealed, gravel and off-road use Single cab, extended cab, double cab (chassis, drop- side and well-side) predominantly up to 3 litre  Variable depending on cab style
Heavy 4WD Predominantly off-road use Wagon, sincgle cab, extended cab, double cab 2.8 litre or above  Variable depending on cab style
Cargo Van - Small Short trips - urban environments carrying small laods Panel van Up to 1.6 litre  1
Cargo Van - Medium Mixed use - short trips in urban environments and open road driving carrying small loads   Up to 1,000kg cargo capacity  Up to 2 without additional rows of seating

The contract has a three + two year term, expiring on 30 June 2015.

Vehicles purchase order template

If your agency does not have a formal purchase order process, the following template can be used. The template has all the relevant information the supplier needs to ensure the smooth delivery of your vehicle(s). Please also refer to page 12 of the Vehicles Buyer’s Guide, which gives more detail on the purchase order process.
