Organising Around Health and Safety: Course No 476

A one-day workshop for any EPMU delegate and/or member who has a strong interest in and/or is active in workplace health and safety. Ideally, delegates and members will come from workplaces where there is an elected Health and Safety Representative operating on site.

The workshop aims:

  • To provide participants with the skills and knowledge to undertake effective organising in their workplaces around health and safety
  • To develop strategies to enhance the Union's contribution to more effective management of health of safety in the workplace

Injury prevention, accident Compensation and Rehabilitation: Course No 601

The primary target groups for this one-day workshop are union delegates and Health and Safety representatives. Where the course is delivered in the workplace managers and supervisors may be included.

The course is designed to use practical and participative methods to include all learning styles. This workshop aims to develop participants’ knowledge, understanding and skills in:

  • the Accident Compensation system in NZ; including: history, philosophy and purpose
  • the different insurance options for employers and how they relate to injury prevention
  • return to work policy and practice
  • understand injury management and rehabilitation at work
  • work related injury cover and entitlements
  • the code of ACC Claimant’s rights
  • getting help – the claimants handbook
