Workplaces must display QR tracing codes, as must public transport, but other vehicles are not required to do this.

In general, workers who are regularly present in the workplace do not need to scan QR codes. However, all other persons on the premises (including customers) must scan QR tracer codes, or other record keeping must be used. 

Neither workers nor customers need to scan QR codes for the following types of businesses and services, but it is encouraged:

  • retail
  • rental car, car share
  • public transport services. 
Business/service Restrictions are the same if My Vaccine Pass verification is used or not
Transport sector (including public and private transport and passenger services)
  • Businesses can operate.
  • Workplaces can open, with working from home encouraged, if appropriate to the workplace.
  • My Vaccine Pass can’t be required for people accessing public transport (excluding air travel).
Freight sector (including couriers and parcel services)
  • Businesses can operate.
  • Workplaces can open, with working from home encouraged if appropriate to the workplace.
Transport and delivery of goods, eg a business delivering their own product)
  • Businesses can operate.
  • Workplaces can open, with working from home encouraged if appropriate to the workplace.
Utilities (including production, supply, sale, distribution or disposal of electricity, water, gas, wastewater, telecommunications services, waste (including rubbish disposal and recycling))
  • Workplaces can open (including any in-home services).
  • Working from home encouraged, if appropriate to the workplace.
  • Any separate retail services may open with capacity limits based on 1m distancing (not including workers).
  • Face coverings encouraged in the workplace and mandatory for retail (unless an individual is exempt from face covering requirements).
  • In-home services must keep contact records for their workers.
Building, construction, maintenance, and utility services
  • Workplaces can open (including any in-home services).
  • Working from home encouraged if appropriate to the workplace.
  • Face coverings encouraged in the workplace
