This new business.govt.nz digital assessment tool has been co-designed and co-developed with social enterprise Digital Journey. Start your digital journey now.
“Digital technology brings a world of new prospects to New Zealand’s small businesses and this tool empowers businesses to take advantage of those digital opportunities,” says business.govt.nz manager Matt Kennedy-Good.
The digital assessment looks at four key areas of your business – website, people, tools and marketing.
“After answering the questions in each section (approx. 10 minutes), you get a personalised action plan of recommendations, plain English explanations of technology, and links to resources where you can learn more about improving online.”
The tool has been launched as part of Techweek’17 (external link) , which features events focussed on amplifying the inspiring technology, innovation and design thinking that’s thriving across New Zealand.
Small businesses using the free online tool will be able to compare their use of technology to potentially hundreds of other businesses in their sector.
Businesses are assessed on everything from their online presence and digital policies, to their use of social media, with advice and guidance offered on how to improve their efficiency and reduce business costs using digital technology.
“This adds to the suite of great tools now available at business.govt.nz to support small businesses, such as the recently launched Workplace Policy Builder, and the Employment Agreement Builder, which celebrated a successful first year this week,” adds Matt.
“In addition to the digital readiness assessment tool (external link) , a panel of digital technology experts will feature during Techweek’17 at a free event for small businesses on Thursday 11 May, on the ground floor at MBIE in Wellington, titled Keeping your business safe online,” says Matt.
