Kia ora and welcome to the adapting to change workshop. This workshop is designed to provide you with the tools and framework you need to confidently adapt to the ever-changing business environment.

We'll assess your current business position, identify opportunities, and build resilience into your business plan moving forward. My name is Kelly. I'm here to guide you throughout the workshop which we have broken down into shorter videos so you can watch the content and complete the exercises at a time that's convenient for you.

Welcome back. Let's get into it.

Now, we've broken this workshop down into two parts.

Part one: Pivoting

Part one, pivoting. What is a pivot? When do we pivot? How do we know when to pivot? Don't worry, we'll cover all that off in this workshop.

Resilience and agility

To confidently adapt to change, we need to build resilience into our businesses.

The foundation of this is creating an agile business.

So what does it mean to be an agile business?

Well, let's look at the comparison between both.

Non-agile business

So if we look at a non-agile business, they wait for problems before planning ahead, react slowly to change, rarely gather customer feedback, and this could be because we are afraid of what our customers are going to say about our product or service.

They resist testing or new ideas, so there's no iteration or innovation, and they rely heavily on one person. And we see this quite a bit if you have a key technical person with all the knowledge in their head.

Agile business

Now if we look at an agile business, these are businesses that monitor change continuously. They respond quickly to challenges and opportunities. They have their finger on the pulse of the market.

They listen to customers regularly. They test and improve constantly based off that feedback. And they adapt when conditions change.

Now remember, agile businesses don't try to predict everything. They build the ability into their businesses to adapt.

And that's what we're going to go through in this workshop.

And finally, to understand where we want to be, let's look at where we are now.

So for your business, we are going to do a self-assessment.

On a scale of 1 to five, one being never and five being always, self-assess your business against what it means to be an agile business.

Where are the biggest opportunities for growth?

Now remember, there's no right or wrong and there's absolutely no judgment.
