What this funding is for
The AI Advisory Pilot helps you find where AI can add value in your business and supports you to put it into practice.
The pilot works in two stages:
- plan how to use AI to add value in your business
- support you to put AI into practice.
Plan how to use AI (AI roadmap)
- Assess your business needs
- Identify opportunities to use AI
- Develop a plan for implementation.
Put AI into practice (Implementation)
- Put AI in your business processes
- Support your team to use AI.
The aim is to help improve productivity and business performance.

Who this funding is for
This pilot helps small and medium-sized New Zealand businesses use AI.
It's designed for businesses that are ready to use AI to improve:
- productivity
- efficiency
- business performance.
- Business type
- New Zealand businesses with a New Zealand Business Number (NZBN), including Māori trusts and incorporations
- Business size
- Small to medium, less than 50 full-time employees (FTE)
- Business stage
- Established businesses ready to explore practical uses of AI
- Business goal
- Improve productivity and efficiency using AI
What to know before you apply
This pilot does not fund:
- developing AI products or services to sell to customers
- general software or product development
- training that is not related to implementing AI
- work completed before funding approval
- costs outside the agreed project scope
This funding helps businesses adopt AI, not develop new AI products.
