Why staying active matters after a sprain or strain
When someone is injured with a sprain or strain, active recovery and staying connected to the workplace can help them recover faster and return to whānau, work, and life, sooner.
ACC has created new online resources and short videos to support recovery at work, whether you’re an employer or have employees injured with a sprain or strain.
These include:
- practical guides for active recovery
- expert guidance from a physiotherapist to assist injured employees, including information on why ‘rest is not always best’ and how gentle movement supports recovery from a sprain or strain
- videos and tips on staying connected, and how to start a conversation with your injured employee about returning to work.
Weekly compensation
ACC has also updated its online weekly compensation information with new resources and videos, to explain:
- eligibility for weekly compensation after an injury
- how to apply
- how weekly compensation works when recovering at work
- when payments will be made.
One of the biggest concerns for injured workers is knowing whether they’ll continue to receive payments during recovery.
These online resources serve as a helpful reference and can be shared with injured employees by employers.
The new resources are designed to save time, make recovery easier, and support a return to what matters sooner.
